The Cluster Vision
The vision of Community Health Global Network (CHGN) clusters is to ignite active coordination, mutual support and the sharing of resources amongst CHGN members in relational, geographically focused groups. More specifically, cluster members will be empowered to:
- maximize the impact of community-based health care in their region, in culturally relevant ways
- promote faith and community-based approaches to healthcare
- share their ideas, experiences, challenges, resources, skills and good practice with each other
- build credibility and influence in their region by learning together to work alongside private, charitable and national health programmes
The Uttarkhand Cluster in North India was the first cluster, launched in October 2008. Then a group in Kenya mobilised themselves to form a cluster, meeting for the first time at Tenwek Hospital in the Rift Valley, in May 2009.
The most recent cluster launch was hosted by LAMB Hospital in Bangladesh, in November 2010.
Other emerging clusters include Mozambique, Malawi, Sierra Leone and the Phillippines.
