In many parts of the world, primary health care is not working for the poorest communities. A different model is needed, where communities are themselves able to prevent illness and care for their own health in well-managed programmes. Even the poorest communities have the skills and experience to address their own health problems. By helping community health programmes to respect and work with these communities, rather than simply implement their own agendas, meaningful and appropriate transformation can be achieved. In response to this, Doctors Ted Lankester and Nick Henwood founded Community Health Global Network in February 2005. Please see our Vision, Mission & Values to learn more about our approach.
