Integrated Management of Childhood Illness

Overview

In order to construct simple and easy-to-scale-up training programmes, and in order for national health service systems to be able to supply medicines to benefit as many children as possible, the WHO has promoted a scheme called the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). Illnesses included are Cough and pneumonia, diarrhoea, fever / malaria / measles, ear problems, and where relevant, HIV/AIDS.

This page will give links to show how these childhood illnesses can be effectively detected, treated and prevented at the community level.
