Integrated Management of Childhood Illness
Overview
In order to construct simple and easy-to-scale-up training programmes, and in order for national health service systems to be able to supply medicines to benefit as many children as possible, the WHO has promoted a scheme called the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI). Illnesses included are Cough and pneumonia, diarrhoea, fever / malaria / measles, ear problems, and where relevant, HIV/AIDS.
This page will give links to show how these childhood illnesses can be effectively detected, treated and prevented at the community level. We are in the process of collating information for this topic.
