Immunisation
Overview
The World Health Organisation promotes an Expanded Programme of Immunisation of all children, against common serious infections. At the community level, implementation of immunisation schemes requires many components: training personnel, transport and logistics, an effective cold chain for sensitive agents that degrade when warm, raising community awareness and motivation to attend immunisation clinics, and the availability of sterile injection equipment. Despite these hurdles, NGO community-based clinics can achieve high rates of immunization coverage. (ICD-10 Z00-Z99).
